It's time once again to shift into overdrive and gear up for the annual Mini Indy charity race sponsored by SkyWest Airlines and the City of St. George. This year marks the 19th anniversary of Mini Indy in southern Utah, and while much has changed over the years, one thing remains the same: the competition is as fierce as ever with returning champions aiming to hold off the pack and keep their titles!
Mini Indy brings together teams from international and local businesses, community leaders and various civic groups to race miniature Indy-style cars through a twisting course. Funds raised from this event help support the United Way Dixie. The organization helps hundreds of local people every day by funding non-profit, tax-exempt charitable organizations. The United Way Dixie solicits local funding from employee donations, matching corporate contributions and events such as the Mini Indy.
The three-day charity event during the third week of March kicks off with the Mini Indy Golf Tournament. Proceeds from the tournament help fund the SkyWest Scholarship Program. Teams are invited to bring and display Mini Indy trophies from past years at the Pre-Race Banquet. And of course the silent auction at the banquet always comes with surprises. All auction monies go directly to United Way.
